The tape is a continuation of a formal interview with Boris Matveevich Gershtein and his friend Ignat Petrovich Oykhovitch recorded in the town center of Kovel'. (Part 4 of 4. See MDV 553, MDV 554, and MDV 555) The team continues to ask linguistic questions from the AHEYM Yiddish questionnaire. They discuss a number of Yiddish songs and more dialectological issues. Gershtein then tells the team a few proverbs.

The camera pans to collect town footage and records an informal conversation about prewar Jewish life in Russian in front of the former synagogue.

The remaining segments of the tape are recorded in a local restaurant and the former synagogue.

The tape concludes with the team briefly interviewing someone in Russian who does not remember any Hebrew or Yiddish and discussing potential interviewees.
